Firm History

Though Aubrey Thrasher was technically formed in August 2019, the Firm’s seeds were planted in 2001, and have been growing since.

In 2001, Vinnie Aubrey joined a boutique creditors’ rights firm in metro Atlanta, where Bret Thrasher was developing his litigation practice. Over the next decade, Bret built a thriving creditors’ rights litigation and foreclosure practice, while Vinnie managed a high-volume collections department. Vinnie departed for an in-house counsel position at CAN Capital, where he ran the collections and litigation team. At the same time, Bret continued his litigation practice, became a partner in the firm, and represented CAN Capital for the five years Vinnie was at CAN Capital.

In 2015, Vinnie left CAN Capital to open his own firm, the Aubrey Law Firm, PC, where, in the early years, he exclusively represented non-bank lenders and MCA companies. The Aubrey Thrasher relationship continued, as Vinnie and Bret relied on each other’s expertise, consistently referring matters to each other.

In 2019, the then established symbiotic relationship was formally merged into a law firm: Aubrey Thrasher, LLC. With Vinnie’s volume collection practice and Bret’s litigation expertise, the Aubrey Thrasher law firm provides best-in-class service to a wide range of financial institutions in the areas of pre-suit collections, litigation, foreclosures, and bankruptcy.
